Let's talk money, shall we? There is a financial epidemic that is taking hold of a certain type of people. It's not so much a problem with the rich nor is it a problem with the poor. This epidemic is after a certain type of victim: the middle class.

The advent of electronic trading has opened up a new portal for the everyday person. I'm talking about the person who has a full time job, works hard to earn a reasonable living but isn't exactly excited about the amount of money they're making. It's simply not enough for the lifestyle that they want but their current job doesn't give them the option of being in the high earning category.

These people do the right thing. They start a savings account and rather than spending every dime of their check, they start to save. Over time, that large amount of money begins to stare them in the face and they take the plunge in to the world of investing. These same people heard that others were getting rich by investing in the stock market. They smell the sweet scent of freedom and dive in.

Now that we know the type of person we're dealing with, let's get down to it. Let's talk money. The epidemic is this: the stock market is stealing peoples' savings at an alarming rate. It's not because the stock market is rigged, it's because these well meaning people are uninformed and uneducated.

The stock market isn't exactly a fast track to riches. Why not do the same thing with medicine? Medical specialists are making a lot of money. You don't have any formal training as a specialist but why not take the plunge and go for the millions? Start practicing medicine? You'll need a license to do it formally but you could hand out advice.

Of course that doesn't make sense. If you agree that taking the plunge and being a for hire specialist doesn't make sense, why not apply the same logic to the stock market? You don't have any formal training so why do so many people think they will strike it rich with no training?

Let's do it. Let's talk money. More money! It's possible for the outsider to make money in the stock market, though. It involves being safe. Invest with the idea of making money over time. Do a lot of reading, take a class or two, learn everything there is to know. It will take a lot of time, though. If you look for the companies that have a proven track record of success you will make money. Find stocks that have a dividend. That means that you are guaranteed a payout simply for holding the stock for a longer period of time.

It comes with a price, though. The price is your time. Learning enough to make money is going to take at least an hour per week for every stock that you own. If you want five stocks, that's at least five hours per week just learning about those stocks.

The people who lose the money are the ones who invest in risky stocks with no training. These are the people that talk about penny stocks, startup companies, and things called levered etfs. These are stocks for the pros. Those with a lot of training and a team of research professionals. Unless you have both of those, stay away.

If that's not enough, let's talk money. Smart money! If you don't believe me, believe the statistics. The stats are clear. Those that chase the fast gains may win today but not over time. You may win the battle but you will lose the war. The statistics prove it.

If you need government money for college, consider applying for a state grant. Every state offers some kind of grant. Some apply to various populations, and others offer money for anyone living in the state. Even territories have grant programs to offer. Both Puerto Rico and Washington D.C. offer several ways to apply for a grant, and receive government money for college.

Some states, such as California and New York State, have multiple grants and other programs as well. California even has a program for vocational school grants. You can find government money for college all across the country.

So, how do you spot these scams on the web? More than 90% of money making opportunities are designed to take your money and give you nothing but an empty wallet in return. There will be a full page advert that offers you instant riches overnight. But there will be nowhere to sign up for any information before you decide. You will probably be given a 'one time low price' that will expire at midnight.

Once you have paid your money you will receive at best, an e-Book which you could probably get free anywhere on the web. At worst, you will receive nothing and no way to get your money back. However, that leaves 10% that are honest business people who want to help you succeed in making money. Think about your spending habits and you will be able to figure out a way to save more money. There are hundreds of ways that you waste money everyday without even realizing it. You can eliminate that waste by becoming aware of your daily spending habits. Impulse buying is probably one of the biggest problems for most people. ATM withdrawals are another problem. It all adds up over time.

Here are ten ways to save more money.

1. Only shop for items you need. Never go shopping for the fun of it. This results in impulse buying.

2. Buy a less expensive car than you can afford. Or even better, buy a used car.

3. Choose a bank where there are no service charges.

4. Use discount brokers instead of full-service brokers.

5. Shop at discount stores and always use a list when you shop.

6. Don't use the ATM machines. Save the fees.

7. Don't overpay your taxes to get a refund. You lose the interest you could have earned on that money.

Money for jam implies that it's easy to make money. That isn't always the truth. However it can be easier if you do some homework and find the right system. Mine happens to be an online marketing business.

Here are in my opinion 5 important steps.

First of all you need to get yourself a Mentor or at least someone that is working in the market that you are wanting to work in. What you will generally find is that whoever you are being mentored by, or getting advice from, has been down a similar line to yourself and will be able to make money with assistance from you as well. It's generally an opportunity which benefits both parties.

Second, You will need to work out:

•    What you want to sell (e Books, videos, other products.)
•    How to build a web site (not always necessary to start)
•    How to drive traffic to your site
•    Where to find help to answer all the unknown questions

This is where your mentor can help. Usually your mentor will already be utilizing a product or range of products to assist. It is best to talk to them to find out what may be the easiest way.

Third, get online and search. This is probably the easiest way of finding most of your information about your mentor as well as what products are available and what is great, good or terrible. What you will probably find is too much information and people trying to sell everything you can imagine. All I say is do some homework and read what others have to say. It's no different to the research you'd do if you were purchasing a vehicle.

Fourth, find the product or system that works for you. Once again sorting through information online is the easiest way to do it. You can find out about what you are looking at buying, from what others have to say about the product or system. The most important thing about any product is the ongoing support and training that the product supplies. Some have only a little or no help available, others have more than you need or have time to learn. I found that the program I purchased had more than I would ever need, however it did provide concise tuition that helped me build a web site, get online and drive traffic to my site, with no prior experience in any of it.

Fifth, Set goals. It is important you set goals. Small steps first $1 or $100 or $1000, it doesn't matter how small, sometimes small is good.  It's like losing weight if you have 30 pounds to lose your not going to lose the whole lot at once. You set targets like a pound in the first instance, then 5 pounds, then 10 pounds and so on. That's what I mean by small steps.
