Money is Not Enough

Many of us think that, if we could just win the lottery, our financial worries would be over. We could quit our job and not think of where the money for this month's expenses would come from. Unfortunately, money is not enough for us to live a financial good life.

One argument for the case of money not being enough is the studies done on lottery winners and how they do in the years after winning. It turns out many of the lottery winners lose all the money within a very few years. Some even get into a worse position than they started in, as they go broke with big debts. I guess they get used to spending a lot more money and when the money is no longer there the only way to continue is to borrow money. That only works for so long.

We need something more than money to truly prosper. First of all, we need knowledge about how to handle the financial part of our life. If you don't know how to manage your money before winning the lottery, you won't know how to do it after winning, either. What you need to do, is start to acquire the knowledge as soon as possible. It will both make it easier to earn more money but, just as important, you will get into better shape to keep your new-found wealth.

The second thing we need to address is our beliefs about money. Our brain operates on the unconscious level in most of the things we do. Many times this is good. For example, it would be a mess if we had to consciously consider how to walk all the time. In other instances it is not so good. If, for example, we believe that money is the root of all evil, the unconscious mind will protect us by making sure we don't earn too much. Investigate your beliefs about money and change them to more supporting beliefs. I think you will find it much easier to achieve financial wealth.

The third thing I will list as one of the major reasons why money is not enough to be financially wealthy is our emotions. If we fear losing our money or the house because we can't pay the mortgage, then we tend to be in a defensive mode. We end up focusing on protecting our finances instead of having an open mind about new possibilities. This is what keeps many of in the survival state of mind instead of living in a prosperous state of mind.

There are, of course, many factors involved in having a rewarding financial life, and I have only mentioned a few I believe are the most important. But if you get the knowledge, adjust your beliefs about money and start feeling appreciative about your situation, right away you will have a much stronger foundation for your future financial situation.
